Coimbra Tour

Description

Located on Mondego river bank, Coimbra is known for its University, which is among Portugal and Europe´s oldest ones.

We will start our tour visiting the 13th century University, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where one of the city´s most beautiful locations is to be found, namely the country´s most beautiful and famous library. We will pass by the gothic Santa Clara-a-Velha monastery, founded in 1283, and the romanic Santa Clara-a-Nova one, dating from 1649, among the country´s most important and the Sé Velha (old cathedral), a prime example of the Portuguese architectural and religious roots. On the return trip we will pass by an important archeological site, Conímbriga, dating back to the Roman domination of the Iberian Peninsula.
